Smiling older womanIndependent Living Resource Center (ILRC)

Independent Living Resource Center (ILRC) is a grassroots, community-based, consumer-controlled agency. Our purpose is to encourage and empower individuals with disabilities to participate fully in family, community, and work life. Through our main office in Albuquerque and satellite offices in Moriarity, Socorro, and Alamogordo, we provide advocacy and services to New Mexicans with disabilities in 16 counties.

The staff at the Independent Living Resource Center gave me practical support with my Social Security benefits claim and with finding affordable housing. They also provided a lot of emotional support. ILRC had a very profound affect on me; I learned that I don’t have to define myself in terms of what I can’t do.
